BioEden Resources
Debris, DNA, Dinitrogen, orbs, power, and water — a list you can recycle.
BioEden’s economy is small on purpose. You salvage debris on a hex planet, spend those materials on solar and water networks, and hold a few named stockpiles while you hatch extinct species. The Cosmic Collective will ask you to gather more. The globe will ask you to gather less. This page names the materials the Steam tutorial actually puts on screen so Keepers stop treating every tooltip as a new biome.
Debris is the foundation Focus describes on Steam: wreckage scattered across the land, recycled into the stuff your first buildings cost. Energy comes from solar. Water comes from distributors placed near sources. DNA fragments unlock animals in the Bestiary. Orbs come from Orb Factories and cost pollution. Dinitrogen has appeared as a 15,000-unit stockpile on a Technology Guild Collective Request. None of those names is a reason to sprawl. Recycle still returns materials. There are no fail states. The 3 September 2026 campaign is scheduled at 15–20 hours; you do not need a warehouse on day one.
If you have not placed a spine yet, read Getting Started and power and water before you chase a stockpile card.
What the HUD is counting
The top bar in the demo stacks several counters at once: materials from debris, energy, water, DNA fragments, and other named piles. Exact icons shift as you unlock buildings. What does not shift is the rule. Each structure consumes something and nudges pollution or Impact Level. Hover before you confirm. An Orb Factory tooltip listing energy drain and a large pollution hit is the game telling you orbs are a product, not a win condition. Rank that building on the building list. Recycle it when the request is done.
DNA fragments are the spend for species. You gather samples, open the Bestiary, press Analyze, and unlock a name such as Landowl. Fragments are not a biome and not a guild. They belong with DNA and Bestiary and animal care. Spending every fragment on Thudder before the dome has climate tools is a resource mistake, not a lore choice.
Dinitrogen is a stockpile. A Technology Guild request has asked for 15,000. Treat that as a Collective job, not a second planet. Build the smallest extractor that fills the bar, then tear extra machines down. The Collective Requests page explains why those cards are jobs, not the five launch guilds.
Water and energy are networks, not chests. You cannot crate them in a warehouse and ignore the pipes. Short cables, short pipes, then stop. If a Crisis Alert or a regulation is chewing production, the answer is still recycle and wait, not a second ring of pylons. Restore the planet is the cleanup guide. Outside and inside is the room-switch guide.
What not to hoard
Do not hoard Orb Factories. Do not hoard idle miners. Do not hoard spare humidifiers in a dome that already sits in the animal’s window. Official copy asks you to leave no trace that you were there: recycle buildings once they have served their purpose, purify lakes, reclaim ruins, restore soil. A fat resource bar on a red globe is a failed session even if no fail state popped.
Do not invent resources this page does not name. If a live tooltip shows a material that is not debris, DNA, Dinitrogen, orbs, energy, or water, trust the tooltip and treat it like Dinitrogen: a pile you fill for a job, then stop filling. This unofficial wiki will not guess a crafting tree Broken Arms Games has not shown.
Charles will point you at wreckage first. That is the whole tutorial economy. Launch morning on Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch 2 uses the same verbs. Guild modifiers from Euler, Orin, Darwin, Xylar, or Umbra sit on top. They do not add a secret mineral. Pick the affiliation on the guild picker after you know whether you over-gather.
How resources connect to animals and guilds
Animals need climate and food, not a full warehouse. A Landowl that wants ferns does not care that you hit 15,000 Dinitrogen. A Mystic Guild request to raise Scrofteusk or Vinex to Shining Status is an animal job paid in care, not in orbs. Keep those names on the animal rankings until panels exist.
Guilds change how you feel about piles. Euler forgives extra buildings. Xylar wants you to recycle them. Darwin wants you looking at the Bestiary. Orin wants the next hex. Umbra wants patience. None of them asks you to treat BioEden like a factory tycoon. The Cosmic Collective’s own requests will tempt you. The globe is the veto.
For storefronts and Discord, use Links. For the calendar, use launch notes. For the tutorial’s edges, use the demo guide. Spend debris on a spine. Spend DNA on one species. Spend Dinitrogen only when a card asks. Recycle the rest.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What resources does BioEden use?
Debris materials, solar energy, water, DNA fragments, orbs from Orb Factories, and stockpiles such as Dinitrogen. Start with the spine in power and water.
Should I mass-produce orbs?
Only for a request, then recycle. Orb Factories hit pollution hard. See Collective Requests and restore the planet.
Is Dinitrogen a biome?
No. It is a stockpile that has appeared on Technology Guild cards. Biomes stay on the biome guide.
Where do DNA fragments go?
Into the Bestiary Analyze button to unlock species. Walk through that spend on DNA and Bestiary.
