BioEden demo news

The 6 June 2026 drop, the tutorial’s edges, and why the save stays behind.

Steam Demo News

The BioEden Steam demo became playable on 6 June 2026, the same day Broken Arms Games and Focus Entertainment revealed the game at the Future Games Show. It is not a slice of act two. It is the tutorial: Charles, debris, a small solar and water spine, a first dome, and enough animal care to prove the Bestiary is the real toy. Focus says the demo remains playable at least until the 3 September 2026 launch. Demo saves are not compatible with the full game. You can skip the tutorial after you buy.

This page is the news file for that drop. The longer how-to — what to build, when to recycle, how not to panic at pollution — lives in the demo guide. Read that guide before you treat the tutorial like a city builder with infinite sprawl. Read this page when you want the date, the scope, and the save rule in one place.

6 June 2026: reveal and demo drop

Focus timed the trailer and the demo together. Keepers who opened Steam that evening could walk a barren planet while the Future Games Show clip was still circulating. Early publisher posts said the full game would follow on 3 September 2026 for Steam, with consoles later. That console sentence is now outdated; day-one platforms are Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch 2. The demo itself did not move. It is still a Steam-only tutorial.

The demo listing is a separate Steam app from the full game. Wishlist the main SKU if you plan to pre-order. Install the demo app if you want to practice. Mixing those two buttons is how people expect a cloud save that Focus already said will not exist. Steam Cloud, achievements, and Family Sharing describe the full product on the launch page, not this tutorial.

Press coverage from that weekend is useful as a tone check and dangerous as a patch bible. Several write-ups still quote “consoles later.” Several also describe the loop correctly: explore hexes outside, manage temperature and humidity inside a dome, recycle anything you regret. Use the Guides Hub when you want that loop taught slowly. Use this page when you only needed the calendar.

What the tutorial actually covers

Focus’s own demo copy lists the lesson list: resource and space management, exploration, casual building, and animal caretaking, all on a barren planet with Charles as the companion. That is the whole pitch. You are not missing a hidden second island. You are not supposed to unlock every guild. The demo leans on a training path; Euler, Orin, Darwin, Xylar, and Umbra are a launch-day choice, which is why the guild picker exists as a tool instead of a demo unlock tree.

Expect the HUD to stack jobs. Collective Requests will ask for factories or impact reductions. The globe will show pollution and Impact Level. Animals will want a temperature window, a humidity window, plants, food, and neighbors who will not eat them. None of that is a fail state. The recycle control returns materials. If your planet looks busy and the globe looks sick, you overbuilt. Tear it down. That sentence is also the thesis of restore the planet.

Do not farm DNA fragments as if they will sit in a shared inventory on 3 September 2026. They will not. Do not name a dome after a save you plan to keep. The tutorial is rehearsal. The reward is muscle memory: salvage first, spine second, one species third, recycle whenever the globe complains. Getting Started is the same sequence written for people who just met Charles.

Graphics and input in the demo are a fair preview of the product. Full controller support is listed. DualSense is listed on the full Steam page. Steam Deck compatibility is still Unknown; this wiki will not call the demo Deck Verified. If the camera hitches, check whether the install is on an SSD before you blame the tutorial. Specs live on system requirements.

Saves, skip, and the window until launch

Focus answered the save question in the FAQ: the demo is the tutorial, there is no save transfer, and the full game lets you skip that tutorial. Read that as a kindness, not a punishment. You are free to restart the demo as many times as you want. You are free to leave a ruined planet on disk. None of it becomes your campaign.

The playable window is “at least up until the launch of the game.” That is the publisher’s phrase. This wiki will not promise the demo app stays on Steam after 3 September 2026, and it will not promise a takedown either. Play it while it is listed. If you want a last rehearsal, do it in August, then skip the tutorial on launch morning using the checklist on the launch page.

Price and platforms do not change because you installed the demo. The full game is still $21.99 / £17.99 / €21.99, with a Steam 9% pre-order discount until launch. The campaign is still 15–20 hours, single-player, no fail states, no generative AI art. Broken Arms Games is still the eleven-person Italian studio behind Hundred Days and Under Par Golf Architect. The demo is a handshake with that studio, not a beta with a roadmap of weekly drops.

When you finish the tutorial once without restarting, stop. Note which guild you would actually pick. Open the guild tier list if you want a comparison grid, or the picker if you want a habit-to-guild map. Open animal care if the Bestiary was the part that clicked. Open power and water if the spine was the part that did not. Then leave the demo planet behind. It did its job.

This unofficial wiki will update this news file if Focus changes the playable window or the save rule. Until then, the facts are the 6 June 2026 drop, a tutorial-only scope, no transfer, and a full game scheduled for 3 September 2026.
